Nepean Clay Target Club ( Inc.)

In windy and overcast conditions 36 male and female shooters attended the Nepean Clay Target Club to contest a 100tgt medly. The medly consisted of 25 Single Barrel and 25 Point score targets followed by a 50tgt Continental double barrel. The conditions and the type of target and the conditions proved to make the day a bit harder than usual. The fact that most of the shooters were beaten by the ladies did not help matters either. ????. To save the day for the men Rod Lide ( Mornington ) shot himself into B grade. This was cheerfully recieved by the rest of the C graders. Also the B graders outshot the top shooters so Rod will have to work hard to win now.

This website is in honour and a tribute to Brian Hooper who worked timeless hours on establishing and updating the vast information that we have to hand for all Nepean members and shooters.

We welcome visitors and are actively seeking new members, both ladies and gentlemen. All are welcome and are given tuition and much encouragement to enjoy the sport of clay target shooting. Teaching the strict gun handling procedures adopted by our Club at all times, gives the understanding of the capabilities of firearms. Properly learned at the start this knowledge may well keep everyone from potentially dangerous situations in later life.

The Club and its members are very conscious of responsibilities to the environment. The flora is flourishing and visitors are able to view a wide range of native plants that grow in both the sandy and peaty soils of the locality.   A wide range of heath land flora competes with the native bracken fern and evidence of a heavy use of the bush land by kangaroos can be seen everywhere. This clearly demonstrates the success of our commitment to the future of the Reserve. We strictly enforce the care of our wildlife within the grounds.

The Club is conveniently located South of Melbourne (Victoria), in the tourist precinct of Cape Schanck with internationally famous golf courses near by. Accommodation is readily available locally including the famous Port Phillip Bay beachside towns and the particularly beautiful Flinders area.   For the enjoyment of members and visitors,  the Club holds a limited liquor license, the bar opening after shooting has been completed and guns put away.  Canteen facilities are available serving food on competition days.

Access to our Club is via Long Point Road on the North side of the Rosebud to Flinders Road and almost opposite the road down to the Cape Schanck Lighthouse reserve.   See  Melways Melbourne Road Directory,  reference: Map 259,E4.
